Heinrich Eisenmann's special areas of expertise are ecological processes of biofilms and the functions of biofilms within ecosystems. In bioreactors and in natural sediments, he has investigated microbial interactions in biofilms such as grazing, growth, morphology and diversity. In addition, he helped develop the new tools currently used by state-of-the-art facilities (Sampling Equipment, Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy, Flow Cytometry, Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry). Past accomplishments during his scientific career took place at the University of Constance (diploma thesis), the EAWAG/ETH Zürich (promotion) and the German Research Centre for Environmental Health in Munich (scientist).
Director of the Institute for Groundwater Ecology at the German Research Center for Environmental Health (Helmholtz Center Munich), and Professor at the Technical University in Munich. Rainer Meckenstock is a world-renowned expert in the field of microbial degradation of pollutants in anaerobic systems. His contacts and collaborators include experts in the areas of groundwater microbiology and environmental remediation technologies.
Director of the Institute for Isotope Biogeochemistry at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research in Leipzig. Hans-Hermann Richnow is a leading scientist in the application of isotope technologies to contaminated site exploration. His research expertise includes the investigation of hydrological, geological and microbiological processes using isotopic tools. He is also a regular collaborator within industrial and applied microbiological arenas.
Anko Fischer obtained his Ph.D. at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig, where he is currently managing the district office of Isodetect. As a highly productive scientist, he developed isotopic monitoring techniques used to provide evidence for natural attenuation processes at contaminated sites. Currently, he is developing new technologies to successfully control enhanced natural attenuation using isotopic monitoring tools.
